How do you have all your tax tocs already? Also it’s not going to show up anytime soon with the government shutdown...

Really cool, USGP would be a great one to go to; others on my list are Canada, Austria, Belgium, and Singapore.

Have you been to many grands prix?

Why would you go to a race that doesn’t feature Fernando Al onso ?

Looking forward to tax season this year. I get taxed to the max, so it's gonna be great to see a return of... probably $20.

looks like I’m going to owe over $900 this year. last year I owed $27.  Some fucking “tax cut” that was.

I’m pumped. I accidently screwed up my withholdings when switching jobs, so should get a decent refund assuming I’m not missing anything relavent from the new tax fiasco

GP is a good direction to go.....

can’t edit- looks like this was partly my fault. my actual income tax is about the same. but the changes in the withholding/deduction schedule meant I should have reduced my exemptions on my W4 from 2 to 1.  Oh well, it’s not like it’s going to break me or anything, I just wasn’t expecting to have to cut this big a check.

Austin and the GP are a great time. Gonna do GA or get grandstand tickets?

I fore cast this shutdown lasting until the next president takes office.

If that’s the case then I predict that the next Fast and Furious movie will be them breaking into the national reserve and stealing their tax returns. Basically Die Hard 3

I have mine mostly done but need to wait to the end of the month for a 1099-SA. So far I’m getting back less than half of last year on federal return and about triple for state. Evens out to nearly the same overall as last year. I’m convinced that I do my taxes slightly  wrong every year.

If this is your first time at COTA, I’d recommend doing the GA ticket. You’ll get to watch from the entire track over the course of the weekend, and you’ll have a better idea of where you might want a grandstand ticket in the future. If I were going to splurge on anything next time I go, I might spend it on a parking option that is better than a mowed field, as we (and a few thousand stuck other cars) got to experience the great mud pit of 2015 that was the FM973 park and ride lot.

I really liked the area up around turn 11 . You can see the cars come down an off-camber turn 1o , an occasional passing zone into 11 and you then you get to watch them go all the way down the back straight and take in the glorious noise of them running up through all 8 gears . Turn 11 is certainly a hike from the rest of the track, but I found it to be less crowded on raceday, and the people that did make the trek up there were definitely a bit cooler than some of the folks in other areas. It also seemed like the vending options up there were a bit more reasonable and the lines were pretty much non-existent.

Same thing happened to me, the delta was pretty big due to it. I ended up getting a few hundred from state/fed instead of a few grand last year . An estimator my company sent out had that I owed, so I guess it’s not the end of the world as I was expecting to have to pay.

How do you mean? I worked at one company, got my 1098 for student loan interest paid the 17th, and my HSA form was available immediately. I guess if you’re married and other situations you’re probably gonna have to wait longer.

I’ve only gotten about half my tax forms so far and it’s usually almost February for me most years before they all show up.
